Francis Ngannou Shares Major Update on Knee Injury; Reveals He’s Still Doing Physical Therapy

UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou spoke to TMZ and shared a massive update with fans about his recovery. Following his first title defense at UFC 270 against Ciryl Gane in January, Francis Ngannou revealed that he needed to undergo surgery for a torn MCL and a damaged ACL in his right knee.

‘The Predator’ went under the knife back in March and he’s finally spoken out about how things have been progressing ever since then. Ngannou revealed that he’s been consistent with his physical therapy and is targeting a return to the cage towards the end of the year.

Chiefly, this timeline is not over the top since knee surgeries usually take just under a year to heal organically and Ngannou will want to make a comeback in the best possible manner.

“It’s getting better,” Ngannou said. “It’s been pretty good. It wasn’t easy, but we’re getting there. It’s been only 3 months, so yeah, I’m still doing physical therapy. If everything goes well I’ll be ready by the end of the year because it’s going to be nine months. So let’s say late December or early next year.”

Additionally, Ngannou was also asked about his ongoing battle with the UFC, which has seen him demand an opportunity to box Tyson Fury in order to continue on as the champion. ‘The Predator’ has made it clear that he wants to settle all the finer details before he makes a definitive comeback inside the octagon.

“You know, as for now let’s fight for the situation and get everything squared up, and then when I will be close to the return, we will see where the landscape is at because a lot of things can happen.” [h/t mmafighting.com]
