For the fatal stabbing of Brian Weems III, 46, of Maple Heights, Eric L. Wilkerson, 56, of Cleveland, was charged in 2022 with aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, and tampering with documents.

According to court documents, Wilkerson entered a guilty plea last week to charges that had been modified to include involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence. Six further charges against him were dismissed.

According to Ohio police, the two males had a fight at an apartment there in February 2022. Then, after pursuing Weems into a restroom, Wilkerson repeatedly stabbed him before departing the scene.

For murder, Wilkerson was given a minimum 12-year jail term. According to reports, the former NFL great was given a 12- to 17.5-year term on Monday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

As a result, Wilkerson won’t be allowed to leave prison until he is 68 to 73 years old. After that, he will serve an additional two years on probation.

In 1989, Wilkerson appeared in just one NFL game for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He didn’t record any carries, though, during the contest.

After being released by the Steelers in 1990, he then signed with the Detroit Lions. However, Wilkerson didn’t take part in a single game with the Lions before switching to the New York Knights of the World League of American Football in 1991.

Later, Wilkerson joined the Cleveland Thunderbolts in 1993, where he spent just one season amassing five tackles, one pass breakup, and one interception.
