Brown isn’t going down without a fight; he hasn’t been seen in the NFL since 2016. After being accused of killing his 73-year-old mother, Myrtle Brown, in the first degree back in October, he is trying to defend his name.

On September 16, Sergio Brown’s mother, Myrtle Brown, was discovered dead in a stream bank in the Chicago neighbourhood of Maywood. After going missing, Sergio travelled to Mexico, saying on Instagram that the death of his mother was “fake news.”

He even claimed that on the day of Bob Marley’s passing, the bureau had paid him an “unwarranted” visit, and he claimed that he had been abducted twice by the Maywood Police Department.

According to TMZ, Sergio was spotted having fun in Mexico shortly after his passing. Thus, it’s evident that authorities believed they had what it took to apprehend Brown, and as a result, he seems to be the case’s top suspect. Even though he entered a not-guilty plea and now plans to fight it.

As TMZ reports, he is being held without access to bond while awaiting the outcome of his lawsuit.

Prosecutors said that he used his mother’s credit card in Mexico in the days after her passing, and he acknowledged taking her possessions with him to Mexico.

DNA samples from beneath Myrtle Brown’s fingernails and a toothbrush from Sergio Brown’s bedroom, according to the prosecution, were determined to be comparable. However, Robert Fox, a public defender, has denied that statement, saying no one witnessed the crime.

“There’s no direct evidence. It’s all circumstantial,” Fox said in court at a detention hearing for Brown in October.
