Former Patriots Player Jake Bequette Shares Crazy Party Stories Of Rob Gronkowski

Rob Gronkowski, a former tight end with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is one of the all-time great tight ends and one of the most entertaining NFL players.

Gronkowski had a lot of amusing anecdotes both on and off the field. It was recently reported that he used IVs to wake himself up after heavy drinking.

Former Patriots Player Jake Bequette Shares Crazy Party Stories Of Rob Gronkowski

On Prime Time with Alex Stein, former New England Patriots defensive end Jake Bequette revealed how Gronkowski would often go out partying with his friends late at night and would arrive at the Patriots’ facility unconscious.

“We all had these key fobs that gave us 24/7 access to the Patriots’ facility there in Foxborough, and during the offseason, Gronk would go out all night with his boys in Boston. Stay up till three or four in the morning, whatever it was, and have his crew drop him off at the Patriots facility,” Bequette recently recalled on “Prime Time with Alex Stein.”

“So then, like an hour or two later when the trainers would come in to start their workday, they’d come in there and see Gronk just sprawled out on the training table, just fast asleep. They would go over there, they wouldn’t wake him up, they would roll up one of his sleeves and you know, stick an IV in  his arm,” Bequette said.

Hours later, Gronkowski, now 34, “would wake up like Frankenstein revived and just go out there and kick ass,” according to Bequette, who played for the Patriots from 2012 to 2015.

But despite all the wild behavior and excessive drinking, Gronkowski managed to put together a brilliant career and compete at the pinnacle of his game.

This may be added to the long list of bizarre stories regarding Gronkowski’s career that have surfaced. Gronkowski seemed to do things better than anybody else, and it would be incredible if that ability could ever be duplicated.

The New England Patriots were the club Rob Gronkowski left the poorest impression with during his pre-draft team visits. After a wild night of partying at the University of Arizona, he arrived utterly wasted. He stated:

“I partied super hard one night, this was one of my mistakes. I partied at the University of Arizona one night and got absolutely hammered and had to jump on the flight the next day, and start this whole tour. So, I already put myself in the bag. So I’m on this tour, I’m falling asleep, I’m hungover, I’m visiting all these teams, and I got to New England and I’m cashed.

The Patriots ended up selecting Rob Gronkowski in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft, so the negative first impression didn’t matter. With 621 catches for 9,286 yards and 92 touchdowns, he rose to become one of the best tight ends of all time.

Rob Gronkowski has been selected for four All-Pro games, five Pro Bowls, and four Super Bowl victories.
