Former NFL Star Jerrell Powe Arrested On Alleged Kidnapping Charges
Jerrell Powe, a former NFL star, has reportedly been arrested in Mississippi following an alleged kidnapping.
According to jail records from the Madison County Detention Center in Mississippi, the Ridgeland Police Department detained 35-year-old Powe on Thursday at around 7:30 p.m. and charged him with kidnapping.

According to Ridgeland Authorities Chief Brian Myers, the incident started in Laurel, Miss., when a victim called police and said he had been abducted “against his will” and forced to “withdraw money” from the bank.

According to authorities, the alleged victim is secure, but 35-year-old Powe and 35-year-old Gavin Bates have been detained and accused of kidnapping.
Powe will make his initial court appearance on Tuesday while still being detained at the Madison County Detention Center with no bond set as of Monday. Whether he has a lawyer is unknown.

From 2008 through 2010, Powe was an Ole Miss defensive tackle. In 37 games, he recorded 69 tackles, seven sacks, and an interception. Second-Team All-Southeastern Conference honours were given to Powe.
From 2008 through 2011, Powe was an Ole Miss nose tackle. He was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He later signed with the Houston Texans in 2014 before moving on to Washington, who released him twice after signing a futures deal with the team: in 2015 and again in 2016.

Over the course of three seasons, he appeared in 12 games for the Chiefs, recording eight tackles and one sack. For the Houston Texans in 2014, Powe participated in 16 games and made 10 tackles.
It is not yet known if Powe has retained legal counsel in this matter.
