Former NBA Player Josh Jackson Charged With Rape & Threatening The Victim

According to a complaint, Josh Jackson, a Kansas product who the Phoenix Suns chose in the fourth round of the 2017 NBA Draft, is accused of raping a woman last year in New York before sending two other women to her apartment in what seems to be a robbery attempt.

The lady, who is only identified as Jane Doe because a judge granted her request to remain anonymous, accuses Jackson of assault and violence and is suing the ladies who broke into her flat for compensation. According to Jackson’s lawyer John Lauro, he “emphatically denies” the accusations.

In court documents, Jackson’s lawyer John Lauro “emphatically denies” the accusations, calling them “very serious, albeit entirely false.”

According to Lauro, “Mr. Jackson will vehemently contest these allegations in court and looks forward to the full telling of the truth.”

The lady claims that on February 13, 2022, at a Super Bowl afterparty, she encountered Jackson.

Jackson and other partygoers assisted her in locating her misplaced phone, and then they visited two nightclubs before she returned home. Then, reportedly offered her $1,500 to do so, Jackson texted her begging her to “come through.”

She claims that instead of accepting the cash, Jackson was waiting for her in his room at the New York Edition hotel in Manhattan. She said there was no sexual content there and thought there could be.

According to the lawsuit, the lady alleges she was awakened when Jackson reportedly “ripped open” her clothing and sexually abused her before “passing out from the trauma, confusion, and the horror of rape.”

She apparently woke up hours later and fled the room.

The lady alleges she got “threatening texts” from a different guy, who is also being sued, accusing her of stealing a watch, “which she said she knew nothing about,” according to The Kansas City Star.

The lady claimed to have gotten other texts from a different number claiming that “they knew her address,” according to the report.

Later, two ladies broke into her flat and entered her bedroom, according to her lawyer. They were sisters. According to her lawyer, they threatened her “with murder” and one of them looked to be brandishing a pistol. Doormen attacked the girls when they screamed for aid, and New York police officers showed up to take them into custody. Jackson allegedly “orchestrated” the encounter, according to the lady.

After only one year at KU, Jackson, now 26 years old, was selected by the Suns in the fourth round of the 2017 NBA Draft. He was never able to live up to the promise the Suns saw in him, though. After just two seasons with Phoenix, he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, where he then played for the Detroit Pistons, Toronto Raptors, and Sacramento Kings. He joined the G League squad for the Kings in January 2023 but was released four days later and is now a free agent.

Jackson has already encountered legal problems. He was detained in 2019 on charges of resisting an officer and consuming marijuana near his young daughter. A member of the KU women’s basketball team’s automobile was reportedly vandalized when he was jailed two years prior; nonetheless, he was placed in a diversion program and was required to attend an anger management course.
