Former Madden Cover Star Peyton Hillis in Intensive Care After Heroically Trying to Rescue His Children From Drowning

In what is being described as a freak accident, former NFL veteran and Arkansas Razorbacks’ running back Peyton Hillis was placed in intensive care after he suffered injuries while attempting to save his children from drowning in the ocean. At this point in time further details about the incident are not available, fortunately, it is clear that Hillis’s children are safe and sound. 

Hillis’ uncle Greg Hillis posted an update on his nephew saying, “I just wanted to let everyone know on Razorback Nation that Peyton is doing better. He’s still in intensive care and having some problems with his kidneys and his lungs, but doctors say he is improving. I just wanted to head off any rumors that may be started. I’m sure he would want everyone to know that he appreciates all of the prayers being thrown up on his behalf!!!”. According to reports, he is being treated for damage to his kidneys and lungs.

A look back at Peyton Hillis’ career

Hillis was drafted by the Denver Broncos as the 227th pick in the 7th round of the NFL draft. He spent two seasons with the team before moving to the Cleveland Browns where he also played for two seasons. The 36-year-old then played a year each with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He ended his career at the New York Giants where he played two seasons.

His best season came in 2010 when he ran for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns while also catching 61 passes for 477 yards and two more scores for the Browns. Hillis finished his career with 2,832 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns while also catching 134 passes for 1,050 yards and three scores. 

The 36-year-old started his career as a fullback during his time with the Arizona Razorbacks’ but transitioned to a tailback once he switched over to the NFL. After his NFL career was finished, Hillis got into acting and has since made his debut on the Indie thriller ‘The Hunting’.
