Former Giants Star Plaxico Burress Criticises Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott

Plaxico Burress, a former Giants wide receiver, isn’t convinced that Dak Prescott can take the Dallas Cowboys to a championship.

On “The Carton Show,” the former NFL player was talking about C.J. Stroud and Prescott when he unintentionally made fun of the Cowboys quarterback.

“I believe he’s reached his ceiling as a quarterback with the Dallas Cowboys. They can win, but they won’t win a championship with him,” Burress said.

In 97 games dating back to the 2016 season, Prescott has a 61-36 record, but he has also completed 66.6% of his throws for 24,943 yards, 166 touchdowns, and 65 interceptions. The Cowboys’ quarterback’s 2-4 playoff record and somewhat lower-than-average postseason stats are the team’s biggest worries.

Prescott has completed 63.4% of his throws for 1,559 yards, 11 touchdowns (less than two per game on average), and five interceptions in six postseason games.

The Cowboys have gone to the postseason under the leadership of the Dallas quarterback four times in the last seven years, but they have never advanced past the Divisional Round.

The Green Bay Packers (2016), Los Angeles Rams (2018), and San Francisco 49ers (2023) were the three teams the Cowboys faced in the Divisional Round.

Burress made a forceful comment, and the argument over whether Prescott can lead the Cowboys to a championship game is still a contentious one.

Burress played with the New York Giants from 2005 to 2008, and here is where most people are most familiar with him. Before joining the Giants, he began his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing there from 2000 to 2004. He remained in New York after that and played for the Jets in 2011 before joining the Steelers again in 2012 and 2013.
