Former Fresno State Bulldogs teammates Davante Adams and Derek Carr ‘dreamed’ of NFL reunion

It appears that Davante Adams and Derek Carr always intended to play together in the NFL. They were teammates on the Fresno State Bulldogs.

Davante Adams declined additional compensation from the Packers in favor of a trade to the Raiders. The All-Pro receiver said last month that he wanted to move back to California and be with his best friend, Derek Carr.

Carr then consented to a contract extension, which allowed the Raiders to “keep everybody together and truly have continuity, have something to build on” while only fully guaranteeing him $24.9 million at signing.

Adams and Carr were teammates at Fresno State, and both have fantasized about working together once more in the NFL. Carr informed Anthony Galaviz of the Fresno Bee that the move occurred at the ideal time.

Carr stated, “That’s something we always spoke about. “We both dreamed of it, and when it started to become a possibility, I fully committed, as did he. We both are aware of where our careers are at this point.

With the help of the stars, the Bulldogs won the Mountain West, and Adams finished with 233 receptions for 3,301 yards and 38 touchdowns over the course of two seasons.

“It doesn’t guarantee that we can do what we’ve already done”, Carr added. “It is fantastic to have the chance to play together once more. It has both of us energized. We’ve both been putting in a lot of effort to make sure we’re not just good again; we want to be the best we can be. But that takes a lot of work, which means he has to run a lot of routes and I have to throw a lot of balls. We’ll see where it leads. But we’re eager to embark on this journey once more as a group.”

Carr and Adams will perform together for the first time since 2013. Carr hopes “we can turn it into something that people will be thrilled to see again,” but it remains to be seen if they can replicate what Adams had with Aaron Rodgers.

Regarding Davante Adams, Derek Carr said, “We both went ‘all in’ to play together again.”
