Former Celtics Star Paul Pierce Has Made A Weird Comparison Of Knicks: An Instagram Model?

Paul Pierce, a former standout player for the Boston Celtics, does not appear to be investing in the New York Knicks. Pierce provided the club with a useful analogy, despite the fact that New York is already sporting many ailments and the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Paul Pierce Has Made A Weird Comparison Of Knicks: An Instagram Model?

“I’ll be on Instagram and I be like, ‘damn she fine.’ Then you catch ’em in person and you’re like… ‘this you?’ It’s too many filters,” Pierce said on Kevin Garnett’s KG Certified podcast.

On their “Ticket & The Truth” podcast, Pierce and Kevin Garnett discussed the team’s prospects of making the playoffs. Pierce thought the Heat or even the Pacers would provide difficult opponents for the Knicks, and he projected they would be defeated in the first round.

Garnett held the opinion that the wave” of the NBA’s institutional backing might propel the Knicks, and he was very high on Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle — who has been out with a shoulder injury — and Bojan Bogdanovic.

Pierce was unimpressed with NY even after they held their position in the absence of their top player, Julius Randle. He gave the impression that they had been losing steam following their successful run before to the All-Star break. Pierce even went so far as to describe their performances as instances of deceptive advertising.

“The Knicks is like an Instagram model. I be on Instagram and I be like, ‘Damn, she fine.’ Then you catch ‘em in person and you’re like…”Is this you?” It’s too many filters,” Pierce hilariously said.

Garnett tried to make sense of what Pierce was saying.

“It’s two different things — reality vs. digital?” Garnett asked his former teammate. “So what am I watching on TV then?”

Pierce responded, “An Instagram model. They looked good in that Fashion Nova.

Positively speaking for the Knicks, the left knee injury that Brunson sustained on Sunday against the Cavaliers was not nearly as bad as initially feared.

“He’s feeling better, just not quite there yet,” head coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters Tuesday before the Knicks’ game against the Hawks.

Even though Pierce effectively called the Knicks a “catfish” in the NBA, his remarks make clear that he doesn’t think the team is a serious contender as the 2024 NBA playoffs get near.

Though the Knicks’ 36–25 record doesn’t tell the full picture, the Eastern Conference has generally been less remarkable, with fewer teams thought to be serious title candidates.

OG Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson, and Julius Randle are all out with injury for the Knicks. They had a 32–17 record just over a month ago, and although they have had difficulty surviving without three important players, it will be intriguing to see whether that pattern continues come playoff time.
