Former Bills Punter Matt Araiza Went Through Terrible Phase Since He Was Falsely Accused Of Gang Rape

Prosecutors apparently discovered that former Buffalo Bills punter Matt Araiza was not there during the alleged gang rape that he was suspected of taking part in with two of his football teammates that took place in October 2021 at a party close to San Diego State’s campus.

According to the lawsuit, Araiza had uninvited intercourse with the girl while she was unconscious after being shoved “face first” into a bed. She exited the room bleeding and in tears, according to the lawsuit, after an hour and a half of it.

The fact that Araiza purportedly “left” the residence where the party was being held at roughly 12:30 a.m. was the most compelling piece of proof that he wasn’t involved. The alleged encounter, according to the prosecution, happened one hour later.

After winning the competition during training camp in August of last year, Araiza was added to the 53-man roster of the Bills as the team’s punter. All of that changed, though, when the rookie, known as the “Punt God” for his prowess in that aspect of football, was implicated in a civil complaint that included graphic details of a group rape of a 17-year-old female who was under the influence of alcohol.

Ariaza did make one preseason appearance for the Bills before the matter was made public. That 82-yard punt against the Colts ended in a touchback.

After his collegiate performances, Ariaza earned the moniker “Punt God”. He was third among all NCAA punters in 2021 with 79 punts. He led the NCAA in punting yards in 2021 with an average of 51.2 yards.

Despite the December announcement that charges would not be pursued, Araiza was released by the Bills following the claim and has yet to be signed by another league team.

According to reports, the Bills were aware of the Araiza incident before he signed with the organization. They conducted their own research on the situation and accepted him.

Court Cases are never easy for anyone and especially when the person is not guilty and is accused of something that to something so heinous it leaves him extremely traumatised and the same happened with Ariaza. Not only in his prime year of playing in the league went into the court hearings but it also put him in a very dark phase of his life.

“I am aware that the facts of this case have been made public,” Araiza told Pro Football Talk in a statement on Tuesday night, a day after the details of the prosecutor’s 200-page report on the matter was first revealed by Yahoo Sports.

“I am deeply gratified for the thorough work of the DA’s office in San Diego and for all the witnesses that were willing to come forward and tell the truth. I am thankful that the facts of this case as provided by the witnesses will prove that what I have been saying from the beginning is, in fact, the truth.”

“I can only hope that now people will assess me on the facts and not what was falsely claimed in both the civil suit and in the press,” Araiza, 22, said. “I am beyond thankful for the unwavering support of both my family and friends. In what has been a very dark eight months for me, they have been a rock. However, now that the truth is out, I am amazed by the thousands of emails and tweets supporting me. It has truly been a blessing to know so many people have now judged me by the facts.”

For the 2023 season, Araiza is reportedly hoping to join an NFL team. We wish him well in his endeavours.
