‘For the Money, Or He’s Kind of Scared?’- Brandon Moreno Isn’t On Board with Deiveson Figueiredo’s Demands for More Money From the UFC

Former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno stopped by the MMA Hour and spoke to Ariel Helwani about comments made by his rival, Deiveson Figueiredo. ‘The Assassin Baby’ is in line to fight number two ranked contender Kai Kara-France for an interim belt, now that Figueiredo is sidelined due to injury.

However, the Brazilian champion isn’t particularly pleased with this decision and he made his disdain known. ‘Deus de Guerra’ put forth an ultimatum to the UFC that involved him going up to bantamweight if his demands for more money aren’t met. However, Moreno doesn’t see the merit in Figueiredo’s recent demands.

Brandon Moreno went in on Figueiredo’s demands and said that he wasn’t quite sure if it was for more money or to possibly avoid fighting him again. Both men have faced each on three occasions with the stat line reading 1-1-1 across the three fights between both men.

Despite not seeing the merit in Deiveson Figueiredo’s demands, Moreno isn’t stopping to ponder on it too much. He has a massive fight against Kara-France that will put him back in the driver’s seat with a win.

“I don’t know what he’s thinking right now, [whether] it’s really for the money, or he’s kind of scared. Don’t want to say he’s scared — it’s too much trash talk. I’m sick of trash talk with this guy. I’m done with that. But I don’t know.”

“He doesn’t want to fight, and that’s it. I know I have an important matchup against Kara-France, but hopefully I can see him again before the end of the year. He’s saying a lot of different, crazy stuff like, ‘Oh, I want more money and if the UFC doesn’t give me more money, I’m going to go to bantamweight.’

“Like anybody cares, man. Nobody cares. It’s not like he’s moving to 135 and the UFC is going to go, ‘Oh, OK, you’re going to move to 135? I’m going to give you more money now.’” [h/t mmafighting.com]

The rivalry between Moreno and Figueiredo that spanned over 18 months has produced some classic moments and fans are looking forward to seeing them run it back for a fourth time. The MMA community can expect a lot more clarity going forward now once ‘Deus de Guerra’ returns from his injury absence.
