Five Things You Did Not Know About NBA Superstar Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant has been a mainstay in the NBA for sixteen years now. During the time that he has been a player in the league, ‘KD’ has won two championships as well as multiple other individual awards as well. Durant was drafted as the second overall pick in the first round of the 2007 draft by the Seattle SuperSonics. Shortly after, the team relocated to Oklahoma and rebranded as Oklahoma City Thunder. 

Currently, Durant plays for the Brooklyn Nets alongside the likes of Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving. The Nets have currently won 29 and lost 18 of their games so far this season and will be looking to improve this record in order to make it to the playoffs. Heading into the 2007 NBA draft, there were two clear front runners Greg Oden and Kevin Durant. Many believed that Durant would be the first pick. However, the Portland Trailblazers who had the first pick went with Greg Oden. It is safe to say that the franchise definitely regrets its decision 16 years later.

Kevin Durant competed in and won Olympic Gold for the United States in 2012, 2016, and 2020. He is one of the very few players to have multiple gold medals to his name. 

Favorite team growing up

Despite growing up in Washington, Durant admits that his favorite team and the team he supported growing up was the Toronto Raptors. 

Dominant in college 

Durant was so impressive on the court that he only needed to play a single season of college basketball before he was drafted second overall in the NBA draft. 

Scoring titles 

It’s already impressive enough to win a single scoring title, but Durant managed to win four in a span of five years. Even more impressive, he won three of them in consecutive years.
