“Figure Out Your Own Situation”: Giants QB Daniel Jones Not Worrying About Things He Can’t Control
Daniel Jones of the New York Giants isn’t at the top of many lists these days for passing accomplishments, but he has excelled in particular circumstances and won praise for them. However, Jones is unwilling to look much outside of himself for reasons why he hasn’t developed as the team hoped he would over the last three seasons.
Giants co-owner John Mara claimed in January that his organization has done everything possible to ruin quarterback Jones, and former Giants quarterback Eli Manning recently chimed in with a similar sentiment.

Jones said in an interview with Paul Schwartz of the New York Post that dealing with coaching changes and personnel errors doesn’t make it any easier but added that it would be a mistake to do anything other than accept responsibility for his play.
NY Giants star Daniel Jones opens up on his future
“Everyone is going to have a different path, everyone’s going to have a different situation,” Jones said.
“It’s your job to make it work and figure out your own situation. Things I can’t control, you waste energy and effort and time worrying about those. I think there’s a lot of benefits to my situation and having learned a lot of football and seeing it through different eyes and heard different coaches, their different philosophies, I think it can be, it depends on how you look at it, but it can be a positive and it can help you grow.”

The New York Giants selected Jones with the sixth overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Jones signed a four-year rookie deal on July 22, 2019, for a total of $25.664 million, which included a $16.7 million signing bonus. In his second season, Jones was chosen to serve as team captain. Since Eli Manning had held the position for the previous thirteen years, the Giants’ starting quarterback had served as a captain for fourteen seasons in a row.
