Falcons Coach Dean Pees Rushed To Hospital After Pregame Collision

There was a tense moment before Sunday’s game between the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints when Falcons defensive coordinator Dean Pees collided with a Saints player during pregame warmups and had to be wheeled out of the stadium on a cart.

Dean Pees, the defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons, was injured when he collided with a New Orleans Saints player during a practise return on Sunday.

Falcons safety Before Pees was brought off the field, several players, including Erik Harris, checked on him. Following the incident, Pees was surrounded by people including head coach Arthur Smith, general manager Terry Fontenot, team president Rick McKay, and owner Arthur Blank.

Before a cart and stretcher arrived on the field, medical personnel and coaches encircled Pees for a while on the 35-yard line. Before putting Pees on the cart to be taken off the field, they sought to stabilise his neck.

He was evaluated at University Medical Center New Orleans, was given the all-clear, and will travel on Sunday night with the Falcons back to Atlanta, the team subsequently revealed.

The team reported that Pees was “awake and responsive and was subsequently brought to the University Medical Center New Orleans for medical examinations.” On Sunday against the Saints, defensive play-caller Frank Bush will be in charge of the linebackers.

The oldest defensive coordinator in the NFL is 73-year-old Pees. After coming out of retirement after Smith was hired by the Falcons, he has spent the past two seasons with Atlanta.

It is without a doubt a difficult situation for Dean Pees and the Atlanta Falcons. The team will undoubtedly be closely monitoring any developments.
