Fairytale love story comes to an end as childhood lovers, Lucas Giolito and wife Ariana announce divorce

During Tuesday’s Home Run Derby, Chicago White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito posted on Instagram that he and his wife were divorcing. Giolito appeared to stop responding to comments after he wrote that they reached a “mutual agreement.”

The announcement coincided with All-Star week, which increased the astonishment and rumors about the couple’s breakup.

“Ariana and I have made the difficult, but mutual, decision to amicably end our marriage…,” The post was made by the 2019 All-Star.

“After thoughtful consideration and discussions, we have chosen to follow separate paths while maintaining the bond we have nurtured over the years…,” he added.

According to Ariana Dubelko, their tumultuous 4-year marriage ended because of “irreconcilable differences,” according to TMZ. She then filed for divorce.

Giolito is being asked by Dubelko to pay spousal support, their legal costs, and her half of “all property acquired by the parties during marriage through the date of separation.” All community earnings and accumulation during marriage through the date of separation,” claims TMZ.

The couple, who had been together since their teenage years, was married in December 2018.

Giolito’s journey with Ariana Dubelko, his high school sweetheart, was as poignant as it gets.

The couple initially became acquainted when they were both students at North Hollywood’s Harvard Westlake School. On December 23, 2018, they said “I do” as their friendship developed over time into a lovely romance.

Giolito’s wife continued her education at UC Davis while he established himself as a strong pitcher with the White Sox.

She began studying veterinary medicine, and she will be done in 2022. In addition to her academic work, Ariana actively supports animal organizations and volunteers her time to assist those who are less fortunate.
