Cole Pensick, a former offensive lineman for the Nebraska Huskers, passed away in the state’s eastern region after his pickup truck collided with some trees.

According to the Omaha World-Herald, Pensick ran a stop sign at a T-intersection in Polk County at 6:45 on Saturday morning, which is when the accident occurred.
The vehicle veered off the road and came to a stop in some woods some 24.14 kilometres (14 miles) southwest of Columbus.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the former Huskers lineman was not using a seatbelt when his car struck trees after running past a stop sign at a T-intersection.

Pensick passed away at the site, according to the responding authorities.

He was an integral part of the offensive line that helped the Huskers become one of the best rushing teams in the Big Ten in 2013 as a senior at Nebraska.

Despite having a knee ailment, the coaches selected him for the Big Ten second team that season.

In addition to continuing his playing career, Pensick took two months of graduate-level coursework while earning his agribusiness degree from Nebraska in December 2012.
