Ex-LSU standout Alexis Morris challenges Kim Mulkey’s defense approach following Iowa’s victory
After the Tigers’ Elite Eight defeat to Iowa, former LSU star Alexis Morris said what she had to say directly. The focus of her criticism was LSU head coach Kim Mulkey’s coaching choices, specifically in relation to defensive tactics.
Morris: Caitlin Clark should have had another person stand up for her.
Morris, who scored 41 points against Iowa’s Caitlin Clark, expressed her dissatisfaction with Mulkey’s defensive strategy, pointing out the defense’s lackluster play.

She noted that defensive adjustments were necessary, and she questioned Mulkey’s choice to continue with Hailey Van Lith on Clark in spite of her difficulties.
“I’m gonna give y’all my unbiased opinion, “Morris began. “We should’ve made a defensive adjustment. Somebody else should’ve guarded Caitlin Clark! [HVL] was on skates all night. I mean, Heelys. Y’all remember the Heelys?”

Morris was not the only one who had criticisms.
While Clark continued to control the scoreboard, a number of LSU fans voiced their displeasure with Mulkey’s lack of adjustments during the game.
Morris played with the Harlem Globetrotters now.
Morris has expressed worries with her previous team on previous occasions.
Kim Mulkey said her team didn't intentionally leave the floor prior to the playing of the United States National Anthem.

She emphasized the need for a capable on-court leader when she bemoaned the lack of team leadership earlier in the season following a loss to SEC champion South Carolina.
Defending their national championship seemed out of the question for LSU after their loss to Iowa.
After playing a season in the WNBA and a few seasons in European professional leagues, Morris just signed with the Harlem Globetrotters.

Morris hopes to open doors for upcoming female athletes in the sport to pursue career paths other than the WNBA.
“I want to blaze a new trail,” Morris said.
“It’s only been 20 women to be Harlem Globetrotters. How many women can say that they’ve been Harlem Globetrotters?”
