Ex-Husband Of Matt Barnes’ Fiancée Reportedly Files Restraining Order over 49ers game Spitting Incident

Barnes is being sued in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday by David Patterson Jr., a man who was previously married to Anansa Sims, Barnes’ fiancée. The lawsuit claims that Matt, a former NBA player, committed battery, assault, and emotional distress during an incident at the San Francisco 49ers vs. Dallas Cowboys game last weekend.

Earlier this week, Barnes and Patterson got into a furious argument, and the incident was caught on camera.

Wednesday, just days after he spit on David Patterson Jr. in a Levi’s Stadium concourse before the S.F. vs. Dallas playoff game, a judge approved a temporary restraining order against the guy.

Barnes’ TRO is expected to remain in effect until February 16 when a hearing will take place in Los Angeles.

Patterson allegedly contends in his lawsuit that he was unaware he would be at the NFL divisional playoff game between the Niners and Cowboys on Sunday, but the two unintentionally crossed paths on a concourse at Levi’s Stadium.

Apparently seeking unspecified damages, Patterson claims that after the two began shouting at one another from a distance of around 20 feet, he approached him and spat in his face. Additionally, he asserts that the encounter was caught on numerous cellphone cameras and that Barnes has routinely threatened and harassed him in the past.

Barnes, according to TMZ, claimed Patterson had been stalking him for a while, once threatening to shoot him with a gun, and “hunted” him down at the Niners game. Barnes asserts that he only spat at Patterson after Patterson “aggressively confronted” him and reportedly assaulted him. Barnes alleges Patterson had been “trying to bait me to harm my reputation and career.”

According to the interim restraining order, Patterson must avoid Barnes and remain 100 yards away from him. He has also been told not to own any weapons.
