“Every Time I See Someone I See a Damn Dollar Sign”- Henry Cejudo Shares a New Found Motivation as He Prepares for a Return to the UFC
UFC fans are in for a treat in the second half of 2022. There are a number of highly anticipated returns that fans can look forward to. The likes of Jon Jones, Conor McGregor, and Henry Cejudo are all slated to compete towards the tail end of the year.
After two years on the sidelines, the itch of wanting to compete again crept into Cejudo, who announced just last month that he will be competing once again. ‘Triple C’ successfully re-entered USADA’s testing pool and has, therefore, officially come out of retirement.
In a recent interview with John Morgan, he explained what tempted him to come out of retirement and what his motivation is this time around. He said, “You know, Ali does his job. We’re going to see what the UFC is looking for, what we want, and I am out here to make money. My motivator is not the belts, now I see price tags on all these dudes. John, I have done everything in the world man, from Olympic gold medal to 2 UFC belts, and defended both of them, nobody has my resume. Now every time I see someone I see a damn dollar sign on their damn face and I am out here to collect.”
When asked what prompted his return he said, “The fact that I needed a break. I needed a break and I wanted to feel that hunger once again. And I felt that the only way I could feel that hunger once again was to be motivated by freedom and money especially being a father now. Like I said man, I see price tags.”

Henry Cejudo set to compete multiple times on his return to the UFC
In a recent interview, Cejudo’s manager Ali Abdelaziz revealed that talks with the UFC regarding a return is based on the understanding that Cejudo will compete more than once.

Abdelaziz said that should Cejudo be successful in winning the belt once again, he will have to defend it at least once and can not immediately vacate it as Georges St-Pierre did after defeating Michael Bisping. If that is the case, Cejudo will probably have to fight at least thrice in the UFC on his return.
