Petr Yan takes on Aljamain Sterling in what is a grudge match that fans have been waiting to witness ever since the unfortunate ending at UFC 259. Yan, who is the current interim bantamweight champion, will be aiming to unify it against Sterling, who took the belt away from him.
In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Petr Yan’s manager shared a shocking detail about Yan in his previous fights. He said, “No injuries which is pretty much a first for him. Every other fight he has had, he had some type of injury. The Jimmie Rivera fight he was in the hospital the week before the fight. So everything has always been you know with Petr very difficult getting to the fight. He’s always made it there and always performed very well, but the fact that he is healthy now, and no injuries. I think it is going to be a good week for him.”

Rubenstein continued, “I think the next logical fight is TJ. And then after that If Henry really wants to come back, we would love to do the Henry fight. If not, O’Malley can get a win or two in that time.”
A healthy Petr Yan is scary news for champion Aljamain Sterling
The first fight with Aljamain Sterling did not play out as Petr Yan would have hoped. Although he was clearly winning the fight with one round to go, an illegal knee meant that Yan got disqualified from the bout.
‘Funkmaster’ started off the fight well. However, as the fight went on, Sterling started losing steam and was not effective with his offense, be it wrestling or standup. Yan will have immense confidence in his performance and how he was able to handle the first fight.
That being said, the fight will not be as easy for Yan as it was the first time around, Sterling is looking in tremendous shape and will definitely put on a fight to solidify his status as the champion. Who do you think takes the win in this fight? Let us know in the comments below!
