Even After Being Eliminated By Lakers, Dillon Brooks Has No Regrets For Shading King James

We weren’t able to receive the detailed explanation and response from Dillon Brooks that we deserved since he spent a large portion of the second part of his playoff series retreating and avoiding the media. Perhaps a $25,000 NBA fine caused him to reconsider, as he finally addressed some issues during his exit interview on Sunday.

Actually, no one was surprised when Brooks said he did not regret calling LeBron James a “trash talker” despite having the benefit of hindsight.

Dillon Brooks has no remorse about his criticism of LeBron James during the Memphis Grizzlies’ first-round playoff matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers. James was the target of a jab from Brooks who called the Lakers star “old” and criticized his play.

After Grizzlies’ win in game 2 of the series, Brooks had fired a salvo at James and said “I don’t care, he’s old. You know what I mean? I was expecting him to do that game four, game five. He wanted to say something when I got my fourth foul, he should’ve been saying that earlier on. I poke bears, I don’t respect no one until they come and give me 40. I pride myself on what I do.”

Even after being eliminated from the playoffs this is what Brooks had to say, “That’s who I am. I don’t regret it,” Brooks said. “I’m a competitor and I compete. I don’t think it got LeBron geeked up. Back in the playoffs, it’s been a little while, so I think he was ready to play. Overall, we just got a better team, a bigger team, guys that have their whole team, their whole pieces there. I’m just going to continue to be me and get better at what I do.”

The Grizzlies’ player with the longest stay, Brooks, 27, will become a free agent this summer. Zach Kleiman, general manager of the Grizzlies, stated he was unable to speculate on the future of the seasoned forward in Memphis.
