Early Predictions: Playoff Contenders NFL 2022

What Does NFL History Say?

To make a Proper Prediction we need to check the statistics. Which goes as such –

According to NFL history, more than 90% of 0-2 teams miss the playoffs while more than 60% of 2-0 teams do.

The playoffs were reached by five of the seven clubs that started 2-0. (71.4 percent). The six 0-2 starting teams were all eliminated from the playoffs.

Eight of the 11 clubs who started 2-0 (72 percent) made the playoffs in 2020, the year the league first increased the playoff field to 14 teams. All 11 of the 0-2 clubs were eliminated before the postseason.

Despite the fact that the current 17-game schedule gives teams a little more time to adjust and position themselves for the playoffs, the tendency persisted in 2021.

Predictions Of Playoff Contenders-

Before we start to discuss the contenders let’s take a look at the teams that got a black mark on them after week 2.

Any team should be concerned when it has a 0-2 record, especially recently. Check out which teams have a negative record through Week 2 first.

Las Vegas Raiders 0-2
Cincinnati Bengals 0-2
Carolina Panthers 0-2
Atlanta Falcons 0-2\sHouston Texans 0-2

The Panthers, Texans, and Falcons aren’t much of a surprise, but the Bengals and Raiders, who both added Davante Adams following last season’s Super Bowl appearance, are two potential playoff teams who will need to get their act together.

Now Coming To The Prediction Of Top 5 Contenders-

Kansas City Chiefs (2-0)

The absence of Tyreek Hill doesn’t seem to bother Kansas City Chiefs. Chiefs have their star player Patrick Mahomes well adjusted to the new look passing game. The defence player has very well managed to make big plays in extremely critical situations. With an excellent coach like Andy Reid, chiefs is leading the game. The for sure is a contender.

Buffalo Bills (1-0)

This team is one of the favourites of Super Bowl 57. They made sure they showed their position to the Rams in the opening game. They are pretty sure I am going to keep up the same level of a game against Titans, chiefs, bills and other teams. No doubt they are a great contender.

Tampa bay Buccaneers (2-0)

With Tom Brady coming back after the retirement rumours meant a lot to the team. Although he had multiple injuries on the offensive line, the team managed to dominate against Dallas and New Orleans. The first half may seem like they are going to lose but they managed pretty well. They change their game from offensive to defensive exactly when needed. They are a very strong contender.

Miami Dolphins (2-0)

In the early going of this 2022 season, the Miami Dolphins had appeared to be perfect candidates. Nothing could have prepared us for their adventures back at home in Week 2, even though their performance at Foxborough in Week 1 gave fans reason to dare to hope.

Tua Tagovailoa and the lads in aqua and orange managed to pull off a victory after falling behind by 21 points twice in the third quarter before coming back to win 42-38. The Miami Dolphins have already overcame their biggest second-half deficit in team history.

As part of Miami’s incredible comeback, Tua Tagovailoa tied Dan Marino’s record with six touchdown passes, giving the impression that time had been turned back. The passing statistics combined with Tyreek Hill were astounding, matching totals from whole games in just the fourth quarter. Definately a contender.

Minnesota Vikings (1-0)

Kevin O’Connell is an offensive-minded coach. If he is being put up with McDaniel, an explosion will happen like Justin Jefferson and his achievement. Why kings seem to be doing pretty well on the defence as their players are out of better health and have a core of young players supporting the veteran in ones. The Predictions goes towards making them a contender.
