Eagles’ Devon Allen Disqualified From World Athletics Championship Finals, To Focus on Football Now
Due to a faulty start, wide receiver Devon Allen of the Philadelphia Eagles was eliminated from Sunday’s final of the 110-meter hurdles at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. Allen was disqualified from competing because his response time was just.01 seconds faster than the allowed amount.
Allen was disqualified by the tiniest, most undetectable margin imaginable since his start was recorded at 0.099. Despite not moving prior to the gun. That’s the law; there is no room for appeal. After spending ten minutes around the starting line and pleading with meet officials to let him run, Allen was eventually booed by his home fans and forced to leave the track.
Grant Holloway of the United States won the event in a time of 13.03 to retain his world championship title for 2019. Two hours before the final, Allen ran 13.09 in the third of three semifinal races to earn a spot in it. That is his sixth-fastest time overall, and it is tied for the fifth-fastest time ever run in a semifinal of a World Championship.

Devon Allen to focus on Eagles
Allen, who earlier in the day ran a 13.09 in the semifinal, can now concentrate on football. In 2017, he went undrafted after his last season of collegiate football at Oregon from 2014 to 2016. After grabbing the team’s attention with a 4.35-second 40-yard sprint, the Eagles are his first chance at an NFL roster place.
“When I was flagged, I was very surprised. That was also part of the frustration because I know for a fact I didn’t react until I heard the gun. To be 1/1000th too quick – I know I’m quick but that kind of sucks.” – @DevonAllen13 explains his DQ

Allen’s first season, when he recorded 41 catches for 684 yards and seven touchdowns, was his most fruitful. After having his junior year cut short by an ACL tear, he decided to sacrifice his last year of NCAA eligibility in order to pursue a career in track and field.
In April, Allen participated in an Eagles tryout and later agreed to a contract. With A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Quez Watkins, Zach Pascal, Jalen Reagor, and Greg Ward as its top six wide receivers, Philadelphia already has a strong wide receiving corps, so it won’t be simple for Allen to get a roster place.
