Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni Couldn’t Take DiSandro’s Suspension, It Affected His Sideline Emotions
Longtime Eagles writer Derrick Gunn has provided something more substantial and considerably less tasty at a time when FS1 anchor Craig Carton has alluded to (but not revealed) a possibly scandalous “real reason” for the collapse of the Eagles in 2023. Head coach Nick Sirianni couldn’t get a hold of his emotions, but why?
Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni Couldn’t Take DiSandro’s Suspension, It Affected His Sideline Emotions
Coach Nick Sirianni was caught off guard, according to Gunn, by the expulsion of Eagles security head Dom DiSandro from the sidelines following his interaction with 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw during a game against San Francisco on December 3. Gunn said on X that “Big Dom” “controls Sirianni emotions on sideline” as well as “in his absence Nick gets in numerous arguments with players/coaches during games.”
After a 10-1 start to the 2023 NFL season, the Eagles collapsed, in one of the most puzzling moves in recent memory.

The downturn began on December 3 following Philadelphia’s shocking 42-19 home loss to the 49ers, a result that appeared to have a knock-on impact.
In addition to being a showdown between two of the biggest names in football, Eagles staff member Dom DiSandro was removed from the game following a sideline altercation with linebacker Dre Greenlaw.
Chief security officer DiSandro finally received a one-game suspension from the sidelines for the remainder of the regular season, which dealt a severe blow to head coach Nick Sirianni.
Eagles Head of Security Dom DiSandro’s suspension significantly impacted HC Nick Sirianni and the team:

According to an NBC Sports story, “Big Dom” DiSandro assisted in “controlling Sirianni’s emotions on the sideline,” and the Eagles owner frequently quarrels with coaches and players when DiSandro is not there.
A confrontation between DiSandro and 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw in December of last year resulted in a $100,000 fine and a one-year suspension for the remainder of the regular season.
Although DiSandro was back on the Eagles sidelines for the wild-card game, it didn’t seem to have much of an impact.
The NFL reminded teams in a message following the Week 13 DiSandro-Greenlaw incident that staff employees are not allowed to be “involved with game day altercations and that they must refrain from such involvement.”
