Eagles A.J. Brown Slams Donovan McNabb For His Comments Their QB Jalen Hurts

A.J. Brown, a talented wide receiver for the Eagles, criticized Donovan McNabb for his remarks on Sports Radio 94WIP on Monday while co-hosting the show with Jon Marks and Ike Reese.

Eagles A.J. Brown Slams Donovan McNabb For His Comments Their QB Jalen Hurts

McNabb, who shared the field in Philadelphia with controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens, is familiar with how to deal with players who are demanding of the ball and seems to think Brown is at least headed in that way. During the radio interview, McNabb asserted that Brown’s earlier this season ranting at Jalen Hurts had affected the Eagles’ ‘balance’ on offense.

“I go to that because I’ve seen it before, I understand it, and I know as a quarterback you don’t want to be involved in it,” McNabb said. “But what I’m seeing is, I’m seeing offensive play calls are being more catered to try to feature instead of establishing a tempo and a consistency from running the football, play action game, quick game to be able to spread the ball around.”

The teammates were a hugely successful team in 2022, and witnessing them fight in Week 1 raised doubts about the squad’s cohesiveness.

Even though there were no altercations between Brown and Hurts during the game, it was just a matter of time until someone brought it up after the Eagles’ season-opening loss to the New York Jets on Sunday.

Donovan McNabb, a former starting quarterback for the Eagles, was that person.

The two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver addressed McNabb’s remarks on social media on Tuesday, saying that as a former player, he “should know better.”

He wasn’t upset, just frustrated that someone who played for the Eagles for 11 of his 13 seasons in the NFL would assume such a thing, especially after Brown had previously refuted it.

The Eagles only ran the ball 22 times while pushing Hurts to try 45 passes, despite controlling the lead until the game’s final minutes. In response to McNabb’s comment, Philadelphia, which last week lost to the Jets for the first time this season, will probably strive for greater balance on offence moving ahead.
