Dwyane Wade Cheated On His Wife Gabrielle Union, Had A Baby And ‘tried to break up’ With Her

Dwyane Wade was hesitant to inform Gabrielle Union that he had fathered a child while they were on vacation because he didn’t know how to do it.

The retired NBA star reflected on the 2013 scandal in an interview with Shannon Sharpe on Wednesday, revealing that he “tried to break up” with his now-wife rather than telling the truth.

The 41-year-old claimed that he “tried to pussyfoot around it.”

He said to the actress at the time, “Hey, things have been bad lately. … We’ve been having a little distance in our relationship anyway.”

The Miami Heat player eventually revealed to Union that he had conceived a son Xavier, who is now 9 years old, with “Basketball Wives” star Aja Metoyer after Union “kept showing up” for him.

Xavier was born in November 2013, joining Zaire and Zaya who were Wade’s older two children from his previous marriage to Siohvaughn Funches.
He and Union now have a 4-year-old daughter named Kaavia who was born via surrogate after they had many miscarriages.
Wade acknowledged that notifying Union about his and Metoyer’s baby son was “the hardest thing” he’s ever done in a “D. Wade: Life Unexpected” documentary two years after the child’s November 2018 birth. “I couldn’t sleep. I wasn’t eating,”

In February 2020, the ex-point guard made a statement. “When … you have this information and you know it’s gonna f–k somebody’s life up that you care about, that you love, if it don’t hurt you, then you’re not human.”

As for Union, the “Bring It On” actress said in her autobiography, “You Got Anything Stronger,” that when Wade revealed the truth to her in 2013, she was “devastated” and required “untold amounts of therapy.”
