Dwight Howard Makes A Mindblowing Taiwanese Basketball League Debut

Despite the fact that Dwight Howard is no longer an NBA great, he continues to pad his stats in other areas. The 2020 NBA Champion and eight-time All-Star made his T1 League debut in Taiwan on Saturday, and he did not disappoint.

Howard, a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and multi-time All-NBA selection, announced his decision to play for the Leopards on Instagram on Nov. 7.

“I have always loved the energy I felt visiting Taiwan as you can see I still have posters hanging up on my walls from my first 2 times visiting!” he wrote. “I’m ready to enjoy life by playing the sport I love in front of a bunch of people that Love me & for my people in Taiwan have your posters ready to welcome yours truly,”

The veteran helped Taoyuan Leopards defeat New Taipei CTBC DEA 120-115 with 38 points, 25 rebounds, 9 assists, and 9 blocks.

As a result of his performance, which included aiding Taoyuan in overturning a double-digit deficit early in the fourth quarter, Howard was named the game’s player of the match.

Howard shot 14 of 32 from the field and even netted two shots from behind the arc. Additionally, the big man acted as a solid ball handler when necessary and was able to run effective pick and rolls.

Howard has played for seven different teams over his 18-year NBA career and averaged 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds across 60 games with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2021-22 season.

Howard not only put up incredible numbers, but his method for doing so may have even been greater. The 6-foot-10 big, who has never been recognised for his outside shooting ability, was observed attempting three-pointers while on the move and serving as the ball handler in pick-and-roll scenarios.

The 36-year-old expressed his desire to play one more NBA season to Fox Sports’ Shannon Sharpe in October, mentioning the Golden State Warriors in particular. Howard acknowledged coaching the Warriors’ rookie big James Wiseman as well as providing screens for 3-point shooting wizard Stephen Curry.

Dwight Howard last played in the NBA for the Lakers during the 2021–22 season, his third stint with the team that he won his first and only title in 2020.
