Dolphins coach Danny Crossman not amused with infamous ‘butt-punt’ play against Bills

The Miami Dolphins were able to hold off the Buffalo Bills, but not before the Dolphins gave up a safety that could have been game-changing late in the fourth quarter. It goes without saying that the butt punt is common knowledge at this point. Along with maintaining possession of the ball, it awarded Buffalo with two additional points. On the other hand, it would appear that the special team’s coordinator, Danny Crossman, does not find any humor in the comical gaffe that occurred in Week 3.

Crossman has not quite gotten over the butt punt, according to Barry Jackson. Just two days later, the coach of the Dolphins was asked about the incident, and his response was, “Absolutely zero amusement and a one hundred percent significant mistake that has the ability to perhaps lose a game.” It is not anything that will ever make me grin.

It would appear that the Dolphins did not have the same sense of humor as the rest of the NFL community regarding the butt punt. Thomas Morstead has not provided a lot of information regarding accidental safety. In addition to that, Mike McDaniel has not really given his opinion on the matter. Given that Miami took home the victory, you’d think that at least one member of the organization would be able to relax a little bit.

We have no doubt that Thomas Morstead, along with his fellow teammate who was attacked from behind, is feeling terrible. Regardless, the National Football League is a serious business, and there is a good chance that the Dolphins will make it to the postseason. On the other hand, aren’t there moments when we can just take a step back and chuckle at our own foolishness?

Let’s be clear: we are well aware that it was a critical juncture that had the potential to cost the Dolphins the game. However, it is difficult to suppose that Danny Crossman will “never” find the butt punt to be hilarious. A sufficient amount of time will one day pass for him to be able to look back and ultimately laugh. Never say never, as Justin Bieber would advise; you never know what the future holds. It may be fifty years from now.
