Dodgers Stadium Completely Flooded As Tropical Storm Hilary Hits
Even though Hurricane Hilary was only a tropical storm when it made landfall in Los Angeles on Sunday, it still managed to wreak some significant damage, specifically to Dodgers stadium.
Dodgers Stadium Completely Flooded As Tropical Storm Hilary Hits
As images of the Los Angeles Dodgers home field and its flooded parking lot went viral on social media on Sunday, Dodger Stadium was one of the city’s icons that was hit the hardest. Standing water surrounded the stadium, which was perched atop the Chavez Ravine in the Elysian Park neighbourhood, just north of Downtown Los Angeles.
On Sunday, the storm moved up to Southern California, bringing with it torrential rain and ferocious wind gusts. A flash flood warning was in effect into Monday morning, causing streets to flood, trees to be uprooted, mud and boulders to flow onto roads, and flooding of homes and businesses.

Additionally, it looked like the flooding extended to Chavez Ravine’s Dodger Stadium. The parking lot was flooded when Los Angeles Dodgers Aerial Photography flew a helicopter over the stadium, making it obvious that playing during the unusual weather event would not have been feasible.
On Sunday afternoon, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake also started near Ojai, some 60 miles to the northwest of Dodger Stadium.

Forecasters continued to issue flood warnings even after Hurricane Hilary was downgraded to a post-tropical storm because of “continued life-threatening and locally catastrophic flooding.”
At least 13 individuals at a homeless camp along the rising San Diego River needed to be rescued by fire personnel from knee-deep water as a result of dangerous flash floods in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

Rain and debris washed off several roads, leaving other individuals trapped standing on top of their automobiles.
On Sunday, as Hilary made its initial impact on Mexico’s Baja California peninsula, one person drowned in a swept-away automobile.

Four more persons who were trapped inside the car were rescued by rescue services.
Since then, several of the hardest-hit regions have come under attack by Mexican army personnel.

Tons of rocks and other debris litter the streets and highways, and soldiers with bulldozers and dump trucks have begun clearing them out.
