Dodgers Noah Syndergaard’s Slow Performance Has Already Annoyed The Fans

Noah Syndergaard hasn’t had a great year; he was hoping for a significant comeback with the Los Angeles Dodgers; they were hoping for the same thing when they offered him $13 million this winter.

The right-hander has a record of 1-3, a 6.32 ERA, a 4.76 FIP, a 1.40 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 31.1 innings during his first six starts. His sluggishness is a concern. It’s worrying that he can’t get swings and misses. After losing his triple-digit fastball, his “reinvention” has made many progress-reversing turns.

Although Syndergaard is most known as “Thor” because to his time spent in New York, he wasn’t even really need to be that talented.

Dodgers Noah Syndergaard’s Slow Performance Has Already Annoyed The Fans

Noah Syndergaard is in his first season with the Los Angeles Dodgers after pitching for the Los Angeles Angels and Philadelphia Phillies in 2022. He performed admirably on his return from Tommy John surgery last season, compiling a 10-10 record and a 3.94 ERA.

The drawback for Syndergaard was that his velocity was significantly lower, which had a significant negative impact on his strikeout rate.

In his six seasons with the Mets, he struck out 9.7 hitters per every 9. Last season, it drastically decreased to 6.3/9. The fact that the Dodgers have a reputation for getting the most out of their pitchers and that Syndergaard could be able to throw harder after recovering from Tommy John for an additional year intrigued supporters of the franchise. The incident was the subject of a lot of hype.

This season, he’s been hitting his sinker 92 mph on average and his four-seamer 92.4 mph. This man used to throw routinely between 97 and 98 mph, with a top speed of 100 mph.

He has, however, mainly disappointed and been unpredictable since joining the Dodgers, alternating between strong starts and terrible outings.

The ups and downs are already getting to Dodger supporters.

And with a significant series against the San Diego Padres scheduled, the Dodgers have already skipped his turn in the rotation. It was revealed that manager Dave Roberts was switching up the lineup.

Instead of pitching against the Milwaukee Brewers, which would have been Syndergaard’s next planned appearance, he will instead face them as the Dodgers’ top three pitchers, Clayton Kershaw, Dustin May, and Julio Uras, face the Padres.

The general consensus among fans is that this is a good move on Thor’s part to give him some time to regroup, improve on his mechanics, and overcome some mental obstacles. But it also wouldn’t be inaccurate to state that the Dodgers have little faith in the seasoned player.
