Doctor Omalu Says Tua Tagovailoa Should Quit Football Forever

Following the recent controversy regarding his head injuries and the concussion protocol in the game, renowned neuropathologist Bennet Omalu advised NFL player Tua Tagovailoa to give up the game.

Last Thursday, when the Miami Dolphins lost to the Cincinnati Bengals, Tua Tagovailoa was hurt in the second quarter. The decision by the medical staff to let him play despite appearing to have had a concussion four days earlier drew a lot of criticism.

Dr Omalu Says To Tua Tagovailoa, “Stop Playing. Stop. Hang Your Helmet And Gallantly Walk Away.”

During Miami’s loss to the Bengals, Tua Tagovailoa has carried off the field on a stretcher after Josh Tupou of Cincinnati’s nose tackle sacked him, causing the back of his head to strike the ground.

The quarterback remained on the field for over 10 minutes before being carted off and taken to the hospital. His arms and fingers flexed in what is known as the “fencing response,” a reflex commonly linked to concussions or other brain disorders. Just four days prior, during the Dolphins’ game against the Bills, he suffered a head injury from a tackle that caused him to appear unsteady when rising to his feet.

Omalu, who served as the model for Will Smith’s “Concussion” movie, believes the athlete ought to retire from the game despite being only 24 years old.

“If you love your life, if you love your family, you love your kids – if you have kids – it’s time to gallantly walk away,” Omalu said in a message to the Miami star.

“Go find something else to do.

“Tua, my brother. I love you. I love you as much as I love my son.

“Stop playing. Stop. Hang your helmet and gallantly walk away.

“Sometimes money is not more valuable than human life. Twenty billion dollars is not worth more than your brain.

Tua Tagovailoa has already been excluded from the Dolphins’ game against the Jets on Sunday while still in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Tua Tagovailoa claimed he is “feeling much better and concentrating on recovery” in a message published on Twitter on Friday.

The NFLPA’s executive director, DeMaurice Smith, has vowed to use “every legal tool” to look into a potential protocol breach between the Dolphins and Tagovailoa.
