Devon Allen Reveals His Aim to be the ‘Best Hurdler Ever’ and ‘Win a Super Bowl’ With Philadelphia Eagles

At the global track and field championships in Eugene, Oregon, Devon Allen, an Oregon alumnus, and potential Philadelphia Eagles, lined up for the 110-meter hurdles final with a chance to place first. Instead, a heartbreaking loss on his home track narrowly prevented him from winning the world title. Within .1 second of the starting gun sounding, runners cannot begin.

Allen was eliminated by.001 seconds since his reaction time was identified at 0.099. He argued his case to many race officials after learning of his disqualification. He was not allowed to participate in the race as a protest. He will now need to move on from that and focus on something else new.

Allen had the third-fastest time ever when he finished the New York Grand Prix in 12.84 seconds, which was the quickest time of the year going into Sunday. He has competed in the Olympics twice, placing fifth in Rio in 2016 and fourth in Tokyo in 2021.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Devon Allen wants to win the Super Bowl with the team

Allen will shift gears to his next challenge at Eagles training camp beginning on July 26, where he wants to make the squad as a 27-year-old rookie, despite the disappointing conclusion of his track season.

“I’m hungry for everything I do. My goal is to be the best hurdler ever and I still have a chance to do that, and my goal is to play in the NFL and help right now the Eagles win a Super Bowl. There’s not really much I can do. It’s just one race, which is frustrating — track and field is so difficult because you train a whole year for one race,” Allen said via ProFootballTalk.

“It happens and I’ll learn from it.”

From 2014 through 2016, Allen played wide receiver for Oregon. With 54 receptions for 919 yards and eight touchdowns over three seasons, he wasn’t a particularly good player. However, the Eagles signed him to a contract after being pleased by his 4.35 40-yard sprint time at Oregon’s pro day.
