Deion Sanders Reminded Colorado WR Jimmy Horn Jr. The Motivation That Was Missing

Deion Sanders, coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, experienced a touching moment with wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr.

Horn started his career at South Florida, where he played for two seasons. He was a decent wide receiver but an even better kick returner, earning first-team all-AAC honors as a kick returner.

Horn, a transfer from USF, caught the game-tying touchdown at the conclusion of regulation to force overtime versus CSU. Colorado and Deion finally won the game in double OT.

What did Colorado’s head coach say to Horn before his game-saving performance? He reminded the excellent football player that his father was imprisoned.

The Buffaloes were huge underdogs, yet their offense sputtered. Sanders claims that while Colorado labored, he went to Jimmy Horn before the last drive and gave him a motivating speech.

Horn eventually caught the game-tying touchdown, forcing overtime. Sanders disclosed to Bleacher Report what he said to Horn at the time:

“We had an incident on the sideline this last game with Jimmy was having a horrific game. He’s a receiver. And I said, ‘Jimmy, you’re a dog. You from Florida, man. And guess what? Pop is at the crib. He’s incarcerated. He’s keeping an eye on you right now.”

“He wants to clap in front of all his different inmates because he believes in his son. We gonna make pops proud tonight. That’s what we going to do, because his son is a dog.”

Deion Sanders made an incredible statement, proving that Primetime is out here playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers.

Horn has caught 26 catches for 247 yards and two touchdowns this season. When Travis Hunter was injured, Horn stepped up as one of Colorado’s primary receiving options.
