Deion Sanders’ Message Shows Confidence Even After Colorado’s Loss To Oregon

Buffaloes were thrashed 42-6 by the Ducks. It was his first loss as Colorado’s coach (3-1). Despite the national “Cinderella story” his squad had become after finishing 1-11 in 2022, it was never close.

During Saturday’s Pac-12 opener, the Ducks dominated in all four facets of the game: offense, defense, special teams, and coaching. But if you think one good “butt kicking” is going to dampen the bullish rhetoric coming out of Boulder, Colorado, think again.

“One thing I can say honestly and candidly, you better get me right now,” a confidently nodding Deion said after his first loss at Colorado and his first regular-season college football loss in three seasons. “This is the worst we can be.” You had best get me straight away.”

There is no reason not to accept what the man who has effectively become the Pied Piper when it comes to pulling in elite college football players says. However, it is apparent that  the Buffaloes aren’t there.

“I don’t say stuff just to say it for clicks, contrary to what somebody says. Yeah, I keep receipts. But I’m serious. I analyze and I understand what we’re up against and what we have and what we need,” he said. “One thing I can say honestly and candidly, you better get me right now. This is the worst we’re going to be.”

Sanders insisted the defeat was only a “good old-fashioned butt kicking” and nothing more. He wasn’t about to make excuses for the team’s defeat.

Colorado needs more trench strength and power, as well as a couple more playmakers on both sides of the ball, after the brilliant Ducks (4-0) exposed all of their flaws Saturday afternoon at Autzen Stadium.

After Oregon’s first three possessions, the Buffaloes were already down 21-0 as Bo Nix and the offense pushed the ball downfield with ease.
