Deion Sanders Hopes For His Son To Play In Better Weather, He Knows Where Not To Be In NFL
Deion Sanders, the head coach of Colorado, is hoping that his son Shedeur Sanders, a quarterback, is taken in the 2025 NFL Draft by a team that plays in a warm climate.

While USC quarterback Caleb Williams does not appear to be trying to avoid playing for the Bears, it is likely that Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders may refuse to play for any team that tries to choose him in 2024.
In an interview with Chris Russo on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders discussed the possibility of the Bears selecting Williams in the draft. Deion briefly turned her focus to how Caleb’s career was affected by the weather in Chicago.

With an average temperature of 59.2 degrees, the Buffaloes’ six home games in 2023 were the warmest—72 degrees during the home opener against Nebraska and 44 degrees for the game against Stanford on October 13.
“Like, I don’t want [Shedeur] going nowhere cold next year,” Sanders told Chris “Mad Dog” Russo, according to Pro Football Talk, during a SiriusXM interview conducted on an unclear date. “He grew up in Texas. He played in Jackson, played in Colorado. Season’s over before it gets cold in Colorado.
“I’m just thinking way ahead. I don’t want that for him.”

The subject surfaced during the Colorado coach’s discussion on USC quarterback Caleb Williams, the number one choice in the 2024 draft that the Chicago Bears are expected to choose.
Sanders claimed to have “a problem” with Williams’ adjustment to playing professionally in the Windy City after Williams lived in the Los Angeles region for the previous two seasons.
“A kid that’s coming from California for the last couple years, right? And went to Oklahoma. That’s not terribly cold. Chicago’s cold, man,” Sanders told Russo. “You gotta think about that kind of stuff when you’re taking a young man.”

“Like see, when you take a guy from Ohio State and you bring him to Chicago, okay, I could understand that. But from California to Chicago? Not only that, they added what? One or two more games in the NFL. Seventeen games. Come on, man. You gotta factor in that stuff. That stuff matters.”
A year can, of course, affect a lot of things, including Sanders’s draft stock. The 2023 season saw the Colorado quarterback soar up the boards as he completed 69.3 per cent of his throws for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns, and three interceptions in just 11 games.
If Sanders continues to play well for the Buffaloes the next season, he may be selected highly in 2025. In order to choose Coach Prime’s kid, teams who are in a position to select the Colorado quarterback will need to either hope that their culture aligns with his very specific expectations or choose to completely disregard his remarks.
