Dave Portnoy Is Suing Bengals Over Hiding QB Joe Burrow’s Injury

When quarterback Joe Burrow hurt his wrist and had to leave the game on November 16 against the Baltimore Ravens, the Cincinnati Bengals suffered a setback.

The Bengals caused a commotion when a video of Burrow on November 15 with a cast or brace on his right hand appeared on the team’s social media platforms. The video was swiftly removed, raising questions about why Burrow wasn’t included in the injury report before the game.

Dave Portnoy Is Suing Bengals Over Hiding QB Joe Burrow’s Injury

In a video posted on Instagram on Saturday, Barstool Sports President Dave Portnoy announced he and his father’s class-action lawsuit against the Cincinnati Bengals for not disclosing quarterback Joe Burrow’s injury before their Thursday Night Football loss over the Ravens.

To find out why Burrow’s injury wasn’t reported to the league, the NFL is looking into the team. Nevertheless, creator of Barstool Sports Dave Portnoy hasn’t let that deter him from taking the league and the team on personally, particularly after he wagered money on the Bengals and saw them lose to the Ravens.

“I’m filing a class action lawsuit against the Bengals and NFL for lying about the injury report,” he wrote on social media. “There is no shot I put $100,000 hard earned dollars on the Bengals if I knew Joe Burrow was injured going into the game.”

He argued, “This committee owes me an apology!”

“If you or somebody you know has been harmed gambling on the NFL by [the NFL commissioner] and specifically the Bengals on Thursday [Night] Football you may be entitled to damages,” Portnoy wrote on IG. “Please contact the Law Firm of ‘@TheCousinMike.’ Let us work for you. No settlement. No fees.”

In addition to outlining his legal reasons, Portnoy gave what seemed to be a phony phone number that anyone wishing to join the case might call.

On November 17, word leaked out that Burrow’s wrist injury will keep him out of the season. When Portnoy heard about the development, he responded candidly. He wrote, “I DEMAND AN INVESTIGATION!” “REFUND ALL BETS! THE INTEGRITY OF THE NFL AND AMERICA DEPENDS ON IT!”

Burrow’s injury occurred earlier in the game on November 16, according to Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, therefore there was no need to list Burrow on the pregame injury report. He was probably talking about a play in which a Ravens player smacked Burrow’s hand into the ground just before he could throw a touchdown.
