Daniel Jones’ Future With Giants Skeptical, As HC Brian Daboll Isn’t Committed Yet
As the Giants’ quarterback in 2022, Daniel Jones is said to have made considerable progress and gained the respect of his colleagues. But it doesn’t mean that Jones, a former first-round pick, will be the starting quarterback when New York takes the field once more. Coach Brian Daboll, whose appointment seemed to signal a turning point in Jones’ career. When asked whether he anticipates Jones returning in 2023 following Saturday’s playoff loss to the Eagles, Daboll was exceedingly evasive.
Daniel Jones’ Future With Giants Skeptical, As HC Brian Daboll Isn’t Committed Yet
In 2023 and beyond, Daniel Jones would like to start at quarterback for the New York Giants, but only if the math add up. That decision will be made by the authorities, according to the 25-year-old former No. 6 draught pick.

The Saquon Barkley answer was different than the Daniel Jones answer mentioning:
•We’d love to have everyone back
•Salary cap
•Taking the emotion out of itNone of which was said with DJ BUT it was his 2nd question on contract https://t.co/eSn4SPcmuE pic.twitter.com/GM4IXT5qB8

Jones helped the Giants to their first berth in the NFL Playoffs since 2016 and their first playoff victory since 2011, taking a huge step in the right way this season. In all statistical measures, he had a career year, passing for 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns on a 67.2% completion rate and rushing for 708 yards and seven scores on 120 carries. He fumbled six times and threw five interceptions.
Jones’ performance should excite New York. His 2022–2023 campaign was just what the company needed.
Joe Schoen saying the Giants want Daniel Jones back and are looking to re-sign him is a massive statement…
We all knew the Giants wanted him back, but now it's public after the season ends. Let the contract negotiations begin! #NYG

All of this suggests that the Giants letting Jones go after his greatest season in four years in the league would be strange. Nevertheless, it’s not an unlikely option.
In April, the team rejected Jones’ fifth-year option. In 2023, the price would have been $22.38 million.
The choice to reject the offer places New York in a precarious position, even if it was probably the appropriate one at the time.
“Yeah, I — all these conversations, we’re gonna have those,” Daboll told reporters. “We’ve got a long offseason, and there’s a time and a place to have those conversations. Tonight’s not it.”
He’s a Eagle Legend and a great RBs coach, did a great job as HC assistant last two years and with Miles Sanders but we would better off bringing in some new names
Brian Dobal – Bills OC
Eric Bieniemy – Chiefs OC
Matt Eburflus – Colts DCThese guys should be top of the list

Prior to the Giants’ first-round playoff game, the two parties were allegedly close to agreeing on a contract extension, but as of right now, Jones is not committed beyond this season. While lacking dazzling passing statistics, the Duke graduate finished 2022 with 15 touchdowns and five interceptions in a career that was among the most productive in the NFL.
For what it’s worth, Jones’ development was also minimised by Daboll in his postgame remarks, who claimed Jones had been “a steady guy since he’s been here.” He was likewise unenthusiastic when asked to evaluate the quarterback’s individual performance versus the Eagles.
“Eh, he competed,” Daboll said. “Look, we all didn’t do a good enough job, that starts with me. Daniel’s a competitor. (But) they controlled the game the entire game.”
