Dana White’s Update on McGregor’s missing USADA & Chandler Fight

The anticipated comeback of former two-weight champion Conor McGregor has been a hot topic in the MMA community. After suffering a devastating leg break during his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier in 2021, ‘The Notorious’ has been sidelined. However, recent reports indicated that the Irish superstar has recovered and is set to headline a pay-per-view event against Michael Chandler later this year. In order to compete, McGregor, like any other MMA athlete, must undergo USADA testing, which requires entering the testing pool six months before the fight. Unfortunately, it has been revealed that McGregor failed to meet the June 16th deadline for entering the testing pool. As a result, the prospects of McGregor’s return this year have significantly diminished. However, despite the missed USADA deadline, UFC President Dana White has made a surprising statement, confirming that the fight between McGregor and Chandler is indeed happening.

Dana White’s comments on the McGregor-Chandler Showdown

Anticipated by passionate fight fans ever since its announcement, the highly awaited clash between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler has been a subject of great excitement. Both fighters have also participated in the latest season of TUF, which has already aired, further fueling their intense rivalry leading up to the anticipated bout.

Adding to the anticipation, UFC President Dana White, in an interview with Aaron Bronsteter, expressed a sense of optimism regarding the fight. When directly asked if the fight between McGregor and Chandler would take place this year, White provided a succinct response with:

Despite the circumstances, UFC President Dana White voiced his support for McGregor and expressed his opinion about USADA during the interview. He stated ““I am focused on what’s happening this Saturday and then the next Saturday and you know what I mean. UFC 300 isn’t even in mind right now, the Conor Thing who the hell knows how that’s gonna play out, who cares what USADA says, we’ll see what happens when it happens.”

Chandler’s Assurance: The Fight Will Proceed

Ever since the fight was announced, Michael Chandler has dedicated himself to rigorous training. His remarkable physical condition is evident, understandable given the substantial financial rewards that come with facing Conor McGregor.

Unfortunately, the USADA deadline has posed challenges for the fight. Nonetheless, Chandler remains optimistic that the UFC will find a resolution. In a recent video shared on Twitter, he expressed his belief that the UFC will adhere to their original plan.

The official fight card for this year’s all-pay-per-view event, including their anticipated clash, has yet to be unveiled. Their scheduled bout is expected to take place during the final pay-per-view event in December. As a result, Chandler eagerly awaits any official announcement from the UFC regarding the fight card.
