Dak Prescott Counter Files A Suit For Extortion In The False Sexual Assault Allegation

On Monday, the first day of the NFL’s authorized tampering period before Wednesday’s formal start of free agency, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott made headlines, but not for anything related to a possible contract extension.

Dak Prescott Counter Files A Suit For Extortion In The False Sexual Assault Allegation

Dak, the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, said in a complaint filed in Collin County, Texas, that a lady had tried to demand $100 million from him.

According to a report from Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News on Monday, Prescott was sued by a woman who claimed that he had been falsely accused of sexual assault during an event in 2017.

According to WFAA, the accuser’s letter alleged that Prescott used “physical force and sexually assaulted [the woman] by penetrating her vagina against her consent” in an SUV after she told him that she “did not want to engage in sexual intercourse and made sure to verbalize her wishes.”

Prescott’s lawyer, Levi McCathern, who has also represented former Cowboys wideout Michael Irvin over the past year, issued a statement to PFT.

“Mr. Prescott — a new father to a baby girl — has great empathy for survivors of sexual assault,” Levi McCarthern, Dak’s attorney, said in a statement to the Dallas Morning News on Monday. “He fervently believes that all perpetrators of such crimes should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

To be clear, Mr. Prescott has never engaged in any nonconsensual, sexual conduct with anyone. Lies hurt. Especially, malicious lies. We will not allow the Defendant and her legal team to profit from this attempt to extort millions from Mr. Prescott.”

In addition, $100 million in damages were demanded in the letter “to forego pursuing criminal charges, along with disclosing this information to the public.”

The complaint brought by Dak “included claims for defamation and slander, defamation per se, civil extortion/duress, business disparagement, tortious interference with current and/or prospective business relations, civil conspiracy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.”

Prescott contacted law enforcement, according to McCathern, and “will continue to cooperate fully in their investigation.”

Apart from his legal action and the statement made by his lawyer, Prescott has not spoken out on the matter. According to the Morning News, the accuser’s attorneys did not answer a phone seeking comment on Monday, and the Cowboys declined to comment on the case.

Coming up on his ninth season with the Cowboys, Prescott, 30, was selected by them as a rookie in 2016 out of Mississippi State. As the team’s starting quarterback, he has emerged as its face, and he is about to enter the last year of a four-year, $160 million deal extension that was signed in 2021.
