Arizona’s starting left tackle was suddenly lost in a violent altercation during Sunday’s Cardinals vs. Seahawks game when D.J. Humphries inadvertently made contact with an official.
Cardinals D.J. Humphries Ejected After Hitting A Official During A Heated Exchange
Humphries got into a fight with Seahawks defender Jordyn Brooks after a play, and he was booted from the game early in the second quarter. While down judge Brian Sakowski was trying to break up the scrum, Brooks took a swipe at Humphries’ helmet as the players were exchanging obscenities.
While attempting to strike Seahawks linebacker Jordyn Brooks, Humphries struck an official in the head, causing his cap to fall off.

On the play, there were two more penalties.
Joshua Dobbs, the quarterback for the Cardinals, attempted to pass to Michael Wilson, but Devon Witherspoon intercepted the pass in the end zone and returned it eighteen yards.
After Boye Mafe’s roughing the passer penalty nullified the play in which the Seahawks intercepted Cardinals quarterback Joshua Dobbs, the hit occurred when Brooks shoved the 6-foot-5, 285-pound Humphries by the facemask following the whistle.
I get why D.J. Humphries was ejected because he hit the official, but this excellent @AP photo shows Hump had a reason to want to get back at Brooks. pic.twitter.com/yBIfI89zE8

The Seahawks had a first-and-goal at the 25, thanks to the penalties, and Dobbs scored the following play to give the Cardinals a 10–7 lead.
Humphries has been replaced at left tackle by Kelvin Beachum.
Even though the uncomfortable smash seemed to be an accident, Humphries will probably have to deal with the prospect of a fine from the NFL next week given the penalty.
