An examination of the Week 2 college football results-

1) No. 1 Alabama 20, Texas 19

Due to more than a dozen infractions, Alabama’s offence was a complete disaster for more than three quarters, while Texas, despite Quinn Ewers’ early injury, did just enough to keep the score close throughout the whole game. Then Bryce Young, the current Heisman Trophy winner, led two daring touchdown drives to maintain Alabama unbeaten and overcome a significant road test.

2) No. 2 Georgia 33, Samford0 

Georgia easily won thanks to Stetson Bennett’s 300 passing yards, one touchdown, and four extra points from kicker Jack Podlesny. Just 128 yards and three points were allowed by the defence in two games.

3) No. 3 Ohio State 45, Arkansas State 12.

The absence of JSN was of no concern to the Buckeyes, who had two receivers go over 100 yards, highlighted by Marvin Harrison Jr.’s 184 yards and three touchdown catches. TreVeyon Henderson ran for two more on nearly 9 yards per carrying, and CJ Stroud completed 16 of 24 passes for 351 yards and four touchdowns.

4) No. 4 Clemson 35, Furman 1

When Clemson eliminated Furman from the FCS, DJ Uiagalelei had nine different receivers for nine receptions, 235 passing yards, and two touchdowns.

5) No. 5 Michigan 56, Hawaii 10

Briefly: J.J. McCarthy, starting for Michigan for the first time, was effective in tossing three touchdown passes to help the Wolverines defeat Hawaii. McCarthy, who is vying with Cade McNamara for the starting quarterback position, completed 11 of 12 passes for 229 yards. The Warriors suffered their third straight loss.

6) Texas A&M No. 6 against Appalachian State 17

In a nutshell: With eight minutes left, Michael Hughes made a 29-yard field goal, and Appalachian State hung on to defeat Texas A&M in College Station. A&M was limited to 186 total yards and nine first downs while the Mountaineers controlled the ball for 41 minutes.
