College Football 2022: 5 Best Transfer Players

Whether you like it or not, the transfer players have altered college football forever.

While coaches who lose those guys aren’t nearly as excited, they tend to prefer it when they sign exceptional players to round out their rosters. Fans are the same.

In a highly busy offseason, more than 2,000 players have used the transfer portal. The elite players who are moving typically find a new school, despite the numbers not suggesting that the majority of them will do so.

Who are the top players this offseason to wager on the portal?

TOP 5 TRANSFER PLAYERS OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Jordan Addison

Sports Illustrated

He was at Pittsburg. Now he is at USC.

In college football last year, Addison was the most effective wide receiver, taking home the Biletnikoff Award after leading the country with 17 touchdown catches.

Pitt’s success in the ACC was primarily due to that output, but after quarterback Kenny Pickett left, Addison wanted to play for another offence before going pro. That’s precisely what he did, signing up with USC and 5-star quarterback Caleb Williams, forming a team that should quickly become one of the greatest in the sport.

Caleb Williams, QB, USC

He was in Oklahoma. Now he is at USC.

When Lincoln Riley benched Spencer Rattler in the Texas game, Williams, the former No. 1 quarterback in the 2021 college football recruiting class, was catapulted into the starting position at OU.

Williams became an instant legend that day after scoring three touchdowns—two through the air and one on the ground—in a comeback victory. In 11 games, he threw for 1,912 yards and 21 touchdowns, and he also ran for 442 yards and six more scores.

Jahmyr Gibbs

CBS Sports

He was in Georgia Tech. He is in Alabama.

Given that he’s probably one of college football’s top receiving backs, Young’s future can only be excellent. In addition to 1,206 running yards, Gibbs has accumulated 59 receptions and 768 yards over the past two seasons. He might be the next in a long line of Bama great running backs, given his explosiveness and flexibility.
A significant acquisition for the Crimson Tide, who were in need of an upgrade at the position and should get one from a running back who carried for 1,206 yards and eight touchdowns in just two seasons at Tech.

Travis Dye, RB, USC

CBS Sports

The fifth-year senior obviously wants to expand on his spectacular 2021 Oregon season, which included 1,271 rushing yards (6.0 yards per run) and 16 touchdowns. He also had 402 receiving yards on 46 receptions and two more touchdowns. He topped the Pac-12 with 1,672 all-purpose yards in 2021.

Dye is a perfect fit for Riley’s offence thanks to his production and adaptability, and Riley’s offence will have plenty of weapons thanks to Williams and Dye.

Dillon Gabriel

Saturday Blitz

He was in UCF, then UCLA. Now he is in Oklahoma.

Gabriel is hoping to get back on track after missing most of 2021 due to injury, so a meeting with offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby is precisely what the doctor ordered.

After a brief stint at UCLA, he decided to switch to OU and Lebby’s quarterback-friendly offensive system. Gabriel, who has just played a little over two full seasons, has 78 all-purpose touchdowns in his career and is expected to do well at his new school. Together, Lebby and Gabriel led UCF’s top 10 offensive in the 2019 season.
