Colin Kaepernick Is Still Working On His NFL Career

Colin Kaepernick, a former 49ers quarterback, has not played in the NFL since the 2016 campaign. In May 2022, he participated in a Raiders tryout, but no agreement ever materialized.

Even though Kaepernick is very busy with several non-football-related business possibilities, his enthusiasm for the game hasn’t diminished.

Colin Kaepernick Has Decided On His NFL Career

The former San Francisco quarterback said in a recent interview with Gilberto Manzano of Sports Illustrated that he continues to practice five to six days per week and is still capable of throwing a deep ball more than 60 yards.

“I’m going to keep pushing,” the 35-year-old QB said. “I’m going to keep fighting for it because I know I can step on the field and play. Every workout, every opportunity I’ve had to show that, the feedback has always been positive. Everything from, ‘He’s still an elite player,’ to ‘The workout was great; it was better than expected.’”

“I appreciate the love and support,” Kaepernick concluded. “We’re going to keep pushing, keep building, keep fighting, and ultimately, we’re going to create a better future for all of us.”

“When I had my workout with the Raiders last year, even training with guys, there’s a decent amount of people who may have forgotten what I was capable of doing on the field, so any chance to be able to remind people of what I can do out there, I look forward to and embrace, and I look forward to the day that I get to step on the field and show people what I can do.”

In 2016, when he started kneeling during the playing of the national anthem to denounce what he saw to be racial injustices in the United States, Kaepernick made his final appearance in the NFL.

Kaepernick allegedly wowed the Las Vegas Raiders during a workout in May 2022 when they invited him in.

In the end, Las Vegas chose against signing him and kept Jarrett Stidham as Derek Carr’s back-up.

Kaepernick has been busy off the field since his last NFL season, co-founding Kaepernick Publishing and appearing in the Netflix film “Colin in Black and White,” which compared the NFL Combine to a slave sale.

Former Nevada second-round selection Kaepernick concluded his career in San Francisco Francisco with 12,271 passing yards, 72 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. He also had 2,300 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground.
