Colby Covington Reveals the Only Stipulation He Has for a Fight Against Former Teammate Dustin Poirier

Colby Covington was recruited by American Top Team in Florida to come and improve the wrestling program at the gym. ‘Chaos’ was a decorated collegiate wrestler and therefore was brought in to help fighters work on the wrestling aspect of their game. This slowly morphed into a career as a full-time fighter for Covington who signed with the UFC just five fights into his professional career.

However, ‘Chaos’ was kicked out of American Top Team after it became impossible for Dan Lambert to manage the situation between him and Jorge Masvidal. After being kicked out of the gym, Covington dialed up the trash talk and went after the likes of Dustin Poirier, Joanna Jedrzejczyk among others.

During the recent media day interview, Covington shared his thoughts on a potential fight with Dustin Poirier and the only stipulation he has for the same. He said, “Dustin Poirier has all these stipulations to fight me. I just have one stipulation. My one stipulation is he lets the world watch and enjoy themselves. You know, Dustin. Like you do with Conor when he’s in bed with your wife, Jolie. You little cu*k.”

Dustin Poirier vs Colby Covington at 170 pounds a possibility?

Dustin Poirier and Colby Covington have been teammates for over a decade. During that time, ‘The Diamond’ has fought in two weight classes. ‘Chaos’ has trash-talked almost everyone at American Top Team. However, his hatred for Jorge Masvidal and Dustin Poirier seems extremely genuine.

He has stated on multiple occasions that he wants a fight against Poirier. Unfortunately for Covington, ‘The Diamond’ is not ready to oblige. Poirier stated in an interview last month that he would never fight Covington for money in the UFC. He also stated that if he ever fought Covington, he would end up in jail.

Given Poirier is a naturally bigger lightweight fighter, it would not be surprising to see him fight at 170-pounds in the near future. However, only time will tell if he changes his stance on wanting to fight Covington. Needless to say, if they do agree to fight, the fight, as well as the build-up, would be epic to say the least.
