Chris Paul completed his bachelor’s degree 17 years after leaving Wake Forest early to enter the NBA Draft.

The Suns took the road to Los Angeles on Thursday night to play the Clippers. In a 111-95 victory, Paul had 15 points, 13 assists, and 7 rebounds.

Soon later, the 12-time All-Star boarded a plane and flew to North Carolina to attend the graduation ceremony. He flew on a private jet with numerous members of his family from Van Nuys, California, to Winston-Salem, where they arrived around 6:30 a.m. ET.

On Friday morning, Chris Paul picked up his degree in public communication while sporting some brand-new bespoke Jordan sneakers.

Marc J. Spears, a senior NBA writer for ESPN, tweeted about Paul’s kind donation as he shared images from the graduation ceremony. In a subsequent tweet, Spears added, “Here is further detail: Chris Paul is assisting each WSSU graduate finance their Greenwood account by depositing $100 into the account and covering the $200 per month membership for ELEVATE for a full year. This amounts to a value of $2,500 for each WSU December 2022 graduate.

Chris Paul stated the value of supporting historically black colleges and universities like Winston-Salem State University in a recent interview with The Arizona Republic.

He said, “I speak about it every once in a while when I get the chance, but I think HBCUs are so important for trying to ensure that we level the playing field. The boys are just as brilliant, if not more so; they simply need the platform. Ensure that they are given the same opportunities that many of these other colleges enjoy. They require support and belief from others.”
