Chiefs vs Cardinals Week 1 2022 Game Scores, Stats & Highlights: Patrick Mahomes Shines as the Chiefs Thrash the Cardinals at Home
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs started their NFL 2022 season away from home against the Arizona Cardinals. The Chiefs picked up right where they left off as they demolished the Cardinals 44-21 in what was a brilliant offensive display by Mahomes, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and Travis Kelce, among others.
The game started off well for the Chiefs as Kelce and CEH got a touchdown each to end the first quarter 14-0. And ever since the end of the first quarter, the Chiefs looked very much in control of the game. The Chiefs did not trail in the game even once and showed exactly why they’re a threat not just in the AFC but to win the Super Bowl period despite having lost key players in the off-season.
OF COURSE. @TKelce starts us off!

Patrick Mahomes shows his class as he guides the Chiefs to an opening day win over the Cardinals
Patrick Mahomes showed exactly why he is considered one of the best quarterbacks in the league, he had nearly double the passing yards of his opposing quarterback and more than double the number of touchdowns. Mahomes went 30 for 39 with 360 yards, with the five TDs and no interceptions.

For the Arizona Cardinals, Kyler Murray was without their main offensive threat, DeAndre Hopkins, who is serving a six-game suspension at the moment. Without him, the defense looked deflated, and the team had little to no idea as to where their next point was coming from.
WELCOME TO THE LEAGUE, POP 👏

Additionally, the Chiefs did a good job of containing Murray and were able to get two sacks on him as well.

After an impressive win in the first round, the Chiefs now have a divisional game as Kansas City will host the Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday Night Football. It will be interesting to see if Mahomes and his men can keep up this level of performance week in and week out.
