Chiefs’ Travis Kelce Hosting SNL: Pokes Fun At Patrick Mahomes & Jason Kelce

Travis Kelce, a tight end with the Kansas City Chiefs, carried on living his finest offseason by hosting Saturday Night Live this past weekend. During the monologue, when all eyes were on him, Kelce made fun of himself, his brother Jason, and Patrick Mahomes.

On the Studio 8H stage, Kelce, 33, got the crowd moving by saying how much it meant to him to be able to host the venerable sketch programme.

“If you don’t know, I just won my second Super Bowl. But to me, hosting SNL is that much better baby,” the Pro Bowl tight said before revealing nothing tops the heights of lifting the Lombardy Trophy.

While admitting he was anxious about his opening monologue, the future Hall of Famer did express his thanks for being selected to host and said he was honoured.

“Then I remember I’m actually pretty good with words,” Kelce said before showing a clip of a pump-up speech, which was him repeating the word “more” over and over again to each passing teammate before cutting back to him on stage, mimicking the word in a raspy voice, impersonating Patrick Mahomes.

Next he turned his attention to his brother Jason Kelce, who was sitting in the front row with his parents Ed and Donna.

Even Jason, the Kelce sibling who is more reticent, was given some solo screen time.

Kelce steered clear of football for the most of the programme. Yet, the stature of the 6’5″, 250-pound Kelce was the focus of numerous of the designs. A sketch on the NFL’s philanthropic endeavours starring Travis and Jason and Chiefs centre Creed Humphrey was sadly shortened due to time restrictions.

After 2020’s JJ Watt, Kelce becomes the most recent athlete to host Saturday Night Live. Few athletes can successfully make the transition from the field to the television, but Kelce, who is already one of the league’s most exciting players, gave it his all.
