Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Names The Most Underrated QB In The League

There isn’t really much of a dispute these days about Patrick Mahomes being the best quarterback in the NFL right now, as practically everyone would probably agree. The answer isn’t as straightforward, though, when it comes to the NFL quarterback who is most underappreciated.

On Thursday, a video of a joint interview with the show’s participants surfaced. Unless they all wore the exact same outfits they did for the premiere for the additional session, it appears like it was recorded at the same time as the premiere.

Marcus Mariota, Kirk Cousins, and Patrick Mahomes all spoke on various subjects. The topic of the NFL quarterback who is most underappreciated was up around five minutes in.

Actually, Mahomes claims that the solution is obvious. When asked who the most underestimated quarterback in the NFL is during a recent interview at the premiere of the new Netflix docuseries “Quarterback,” Mahomes responded with Kirk Cousins.

Kirk Cousins, in Mahomes’ opinion, is the most underappreciated quarterback in the NFL right now.

“I think this guy right here,โ€ Mahomes said. โ€œI mean, if you look at Kirk over here, man. every year wins. Puts up great stats. Did it in Washington. Does it in Minnesota? Talk to any other quarterbacks in the league, and theyโ€™re gonna say the same thing.โ€

Marcus Mariota, who also appeared in the Netflix series Quarterback, concurred with Mahomes’ evaluation of Cousins.

โ€œIโ€™d agree with that,โ€ Mariota said. โ€œIโ€™ve been in a few systems and [with] a few coaches. And a lot of the tape that weโ€™d watch was of Kirk. A guy consistently, year in and year out, continues to prove why he is one of the top quarterbacks ย in the league.โ€

Kirk embraced it. โ€œAny time you can be complimented by your peers,โ€ he said, โ€œit beats any compliment coming from anybody else in your life.โ€

On the one hand, Cousins is remarkably reliable. In addition to compiling a 46-33-1 record in Minnesota, he also guided the Vikings to the playoffs twice in the previous four years.

Additionally, he was listed in our “Clutch QB rankings,” which were made public on Friday, as the third-most clutch quarterback in the NFL. Cousins’ eight game-winning drives in 2022, which equalled the most in one season in NFL history, contributed significantly to his high ranking.

However, Cousins has only made one postseason triumph in his four-year career, how can he be said to be underrated? In his five years as a starter, Mahomes has made it to every AFC Championship game.
