Chael Sonnen comes in with the ‘inside scoop’

Dan Hooker recently revealed on Submission Radio that his days at 145-pounds are now over after being demolished by Arnold Allen at UFC London. He revealed that he was closer to being a middleweight than a featherweight, and this means he’s eyeing a fight at lightweight at the very least.

This would make him a perfect candidate to go up against Conor McGregor, who has been out of action since UFC 264. Moreover, this is stylistically a great match-up since both men love throwing bombs on the feet, waiting to see who will relent first.

“In the business side of your career there are times where you’re gonna take big risks, but then you must learn from them. Hooker is a 55-pounder.

“What’s gonna be next for him? Let’s just give that a minute. We just got this information that the former number five guy in the world is returning to the division. I will share with you a little inside scoop. I do know that Dan Hooker’s name is on the shortlist of possible opponents for McGregor’s return.” [h/t bjpenn.com]

Dan Hooker is 1-4 in his last five fights and is desperate to make a comeback into the win column. As for Conor McGregor, he too requires a win desperately after being finished in his recent outings against Dustin Poirier and Khabib Nurmagomedov. Hooker vs McGregor makes sense not only stylistically but also for their position in the rankings.
